We followed the signs to the east side and then climbed over the ridge. A nice narrow path, a bit of vegetation, but not overgrown

Vandring
The ascent via the signposted path is heavily overgrown. Wide enough to walk comfortably. So you get to the east side and can then climb over the entire ridge to the viewpoint on the west side.
If you don't want to climb like me, you have to go back.

Vandring
The rocky ridge has two main viewpoints. Although the views are partially obscured by trees (mainly pines and birches), they still offer beautiful glimpses into the deeply incised Polenztal valley and across to the Brand massif. The painter Caspar David Friedrich visited the area around Hohnstein in 1800 and made sketches at the Fritschenstein, which he later incorporated into his famous painting "View into the Elbe Valley".
