Coyote Lake Overlook

Embark on the Harvey Bear, Calaveras, Coyote Ridge and Willow Springs Loop for a moderate hiking adventure that spans 7.6 miles (12.2 km). You will gain 1046 feet (319 metres) in elevation, typically taking about 3 hours and 32 minutes to complete. This route offers a dynamic experience, winding through rolling hills, peaceful oak woodlands, and open grasslands. As you hike, the Coyote Ridge section provides sweeping panoramic views of Coyote Lake and the expansive Santa Clara Valley. You will also find flat stretches along the Calaveras Trail, running beside Coyote Reservoir, which bursts with wildflowers in the spring.

When planning your visit, be aware that much of the loop is exposed to the sun. It is best to hike during cooler weather or earlier in the day to avoid the heat, especially in summer. General parking is available right at the trailhead, making access straightforward. If you enjoy hiking with your furry friend, dogs are welcome on the trail, provided they are kept on a leash.
