In 1959, the Florian Tower (observation and television tower) was built in Westfalenpark for the Federal Garden Show. For around a decade, it was the highest television tower in Germany and thus one of the highest buildings in the country. Its height, including the antenna system, is around 209 meters.
There is a revolving restaurant in the tower itself; in 1959, it was the first of its kind in the world. Even today, the Florian Tower is a landmark that can be seen from far away and shapes the skyline of the city of Dortmund.
