The St. Mary's Church in Stralsund is a three-nave church with transept, western pseudo-transept, ambulatory and chapel-wreath. The basilica at the New Market was first mentioned in 1298. It is the largest parish church in the Hanseatic city of Stralsund. The church is considered a masterpiece of late Gothic in Central Europe. It was from 1549 to the destruction of its then, according to unsecured tradition 151 meters high Gothic peak by lightning 1647 allegedly the world's tallest structure.

St. Mary's Church

It is the largest building of the Low German brick Gothic in Stralsund. The mighty westwork is impressive. It was built from 1416.
The height of the tower is 104 meters. It is worth climbing the tower of St. Mary's Church. From its top you have a unique view of the city, the surrounding landscape and the island of Rügen.
The interior of the church is fascinating because of its height and width. The famous Stellwagen organ dates from the 17th century.
