St. Hilarion Castle is an exceptionally spacious complex on the top of a mountain. For the entrance fee of only 2.50 euros you can explore the many rooms, vantage point and remains of the wall. St. Hilarion was built to protect the Cypriot people from the Arabs. The oldest parts date from the Byzantine period.

Saint Hilarion Castle / Saint Hilarion Kalesi (tur.) / Κάστρο του Αγίου Ιλαρίωνα (Greek) - is a majestic fortress located on a high rock 732 meters above sea level, a few kilometers from the city of Girne in Northern Cyprus. You have to pay close attention to the slippery stones on which you walk when visiting individual parts of the castle.

Hilarion is an impressive ruined hilltop castle in Northern Cyprus, the best preserved in the Pentadactylos. The climb is steep, but "the castle of 1000 rooms" is worth the effort and you will be rewarded with fantastic panoramic views!
