The Dortmund-Ems Canal (abbreviated DEK, waterway code: 70501) is the oldest shipping canal in the West German canal network. Opened in 1899, the canal is a 223 km long inland waterway that runs through North Rhine-Westphalia and Lower Saxony from the Dortmund city port to Papenburg on the Ems.
