Vandring

The former Carthusian Monastery Marienbrück ("pons mariae") in Astheim dates back to the 15th century. After looting the peasant uprising and conquest by the Swedes in the Thirty Years' War, the Charterhouse was dissolved in 1803 in the wake of secularization. Today, the premises serve as a museum for the history of "Christian image worship and religious image usage". The town of Astheim has lost its independence and is part of Volkach.
