Vandring

The history of Donauwörth took a remarkable turn around the year 900 with the construction of a castle on the Mangoldfelsen/Mangoldstein rock. It became a well-known pilgrimage site (with the Church and Monastery of the Holy Spirit) and one of the strongholds of the Fugger family, who were unimaginably wealthy in their time. Visitors can also discover an old railway line and an old port on the Danube. Many historic buildings have been lovingly restored. Donauwörth is surrounded by beautiful countryside, offering a wonderful opportunity to combine culture and nature.

Cykling

The pair of storks on the roof of the Holy Cross Monastery have been nesting in the same spot since the 1990s and even overwinter there. As a result, Klappi Storch and his family have become a mascot for the town of Donauwörth. For several years now, another pair has happily nested on the roof of the dance hall and regularly produces offspring there as well.
