I came to a broken trail after 45 minutes uphill. came to 2 cottages at the end of the tarmac, but no obvious way to go through. no style or way markers.

The path markings were almost continuous, at the end of the road uphill it goes right onto the sheep pasture. Then always follow the signs. At the end, when it goes downhill to the right, keep left on the pasture. Characters are missing here.

Where you come to the two cottages with no obvious way through, then go through the gate that belongs to a stone mason which can be noted by the large pieces of stone and lifting equipment. Once through the gate you’ll see a faded way marker directly in front of you pointing right which takes you down the tarmac road
