The small town of Borgholzhausen is located on a pass in the Teutoburg Forest. If you hike on the Hermannsweg, you will automatically pass by here. Borgholzhausen owes its reputation as a honey cake town to the famous Heinrich Schulze honey and gingerbread bakery and shop café in Ravensberg. The company was founded in 1830, and the honey cake bakery gained importance locally from 1740.

Following the route there are benches along the way where you can take a break.
When you arrive in Borgholzhausen, you should take a look around the picturesque town center and stop at the Schulze gingerbread bakery. There is a museum here, a factory outlet where you can buy a sweet souvenir and a shop café.

In 1830, Johann Heinrich Schulze founded his company in Borgholzhausen and, as a traveling salesman, supplied the basket to surrounding fairs as far as Münster. In Borgholzhausen, the family business still works according to the old recipes and by hand. Visitors can not only shop in the shop next to the café, but also take part in an exciting tour of the bakery. If you're lucky, you might even be able to write your own gingerbread heart and take it home as a souvenir.
