The well-known Orange locks are the boundary between the Binnen- and Buiten-IJ. They ensure that the water level of the North Sea Canal remains at the correct height. Also, in this way not too much water comes out of the canal in the IJsselmeer.

Vandring
The route via the Oranjesluizen has been closed for maintenance for 2 years. It's an otherwise nice shortcut to walk or drive across the Binnen-IJ to the other side of the river. The opening hours are otherwise open between sunrise and sunset.
