As an important road bridge, the Maxbrücke connects the inner city of Fürth and the east of Fürth with the western parts of the city. Today's bridge is the fourth bridge at this point and was built during the construction of the subway in the 1990s, supplemented by a pedestrian bridge.
Until 1995 the Foerstermühle was located here with the Fischhäusla, a traditional restaurant (since 1795!) That was known for its fish cuisine.
