Hugill Fell (Wainwright's Summit) is a cherished viewpoint and summit nestled in the heart of the English Lake District, specifically within the Far Eastern Fells of Cumbria. Immortalized by Alfred Wainwright in his guide *The Outlying Fells of Lakeland*, this prominent feature near the village of Staveley offers a rewarding experience. Alfred Wainwright visits this summit in his book 'The Outlying Fells of Lakeland' but, at 870 feet (265 m), this is not the highest point on Hugill Fell, which actually rises to 896 feet (273 m). This knoll does, however, offer wonderful views across south Lakeland. At the time of writing the book, access between Hugill Fell and Reston Scar wasn't possible, but since the introduction of gates, the dry stone walls can now be passed through and a nice 2.8-mile (4.5-km) circuit is possible, starting in and returning to Staveley.
