The monastery ruins "La Trapa" can be reached, among other things, via an ascending hiking trail from the fishing village of Sant Elm. The former Trapist monastery from the 18th century spreads out in front of you like a jewel. It is constantly being lovingly restored and is therefore very well preserved, despite being well known among hikers. With a gentle walk to the viewing platform you can marvel at the old mill and former terraced fields. A very peaceful place, perfect for a hiking break!

The views near the monastery and the terraces of the monastery ruins themselves are "very big" cinema. In order to prevent "La Trapa" from becoming a speculative object, in 1980 it bought an environmental protection organization to restore it with the help of donations and volunteers. With the renovation of the monastery ruin also an accommodation for hikers in this unusual place is to be created.

Vandring

There's nothing better than sitting above La Trappa's ruins. On the left the ruins, on the right a view towards St. Elm and the further mountain range and straight ahead towards Dragona. We are always up there in spring and February, when there is not so much going on. In summer, however, I would avoid it.
