Vandring
The gilded dome shines brightly, visible from afar, and its prominent location near the Lahn River in Bad Ems – albeit on the opposite bank from the town center – piques the curiosity of many a hiker or stroller. Orthodox churches, belonging to the various denominations of the Eastern Orthodox Church, can be seen in Germany from time to time, but they are not all that common. This church, moreover – which is not always the case – warmly welcomes visitors (entrance fee 1 euro).

Vandring
This church was built as a bathing church for the numerous Russian guests. There was also an English church, which has since been abandoned. The cruciform floor plan and five domes are typical of a Russian Orthodox church; the color blue symbolizes the wisdom of God. Inside, the iconostasis, the splendidly decorated partition between the room for the faithful and the room reserved only for the priest, shows the various patrons of the Orthodox Church. This also includes St. Alexandra, to whom the church is consecrated.

Vandring
The spa town of Bad Ems was particularly popular with Russian guests in the 19th century. The St. The Russian Orthodox Church, consecrated to Alexandra, was built between 1874 and 1876.
