The Albertbrücke is one of the Elbe bridges in Dresden's inner city and connects Dresden's Neustadt with the Johannstadt district. It was inaugurated in November 1877 and, after being partially destroyed in 1945, it was repaired and opened to traffic the following year. Today the ravages of time are gnawing at it and therefore parts are blocked from time to time, speeds limited or bike paths covered to protect them from crumbling sandstone. Still: a beautiful bridge.

One of the beautiful Elbe crossings. The increase in the railings led to some laughter in the city and in the press. An unsuccessful detail.

What historical details or unique features can visitors observe on the Albertbrücke?

Beyond its functional role, the Albertbrücke boasts significant historical and artistic details. Look for the relief portrait of King Albert of Saxony on the upstream side of the central pier and the Dresden city coat of arms on the downstream side, both crafted from Carrara marble.
