Vandring

In front of the town hall is the so-called four-tube fountain from the middle of the 18th century. The central obelisk carries on its top a figure of Frankonia with Herzogshut, Sturmfahne and sword. It is a symbol and patron saint of the former Duchy of Franconia. The image program is supplemented by the personifications of the four cardinal virtues: the bravery with helmet and lion skin, the justice with the balance, the wisdom with book and finally the moderation that pours water from a pot into the goblet with wine.

Four-pipe fountain, Würzburg from around 1733
Where do we meet? At the four-pipe fountain, of course! Everyone knows the fountain in front of the Grafeneckart - but it is not only Würzburg's ultimate meeting place, it also refreshes whole herds of tourists and city visitors in hot weather. The cool ones also sit on the edge of the fountain with a delicious ice cream every now and then. From the four-pipe fountain you can watch the hustle and bustle in the city and on the Old Main Bridge quite casually.
