With the decline of shipping and trade in the port of Cadaqués in the first third of the 20th century, the lighthouse lost its strategic importance and fell into disrepair. In 1982, due to its dilapidated state, there were plans to demolish it and replace it with a new structure. However, the resistance of the residents of Cadaqués prevented this, as they argued that the lighthouse was part of the city's historical heritage. This protest led to its complete restoration.

Building built in 1856, it is a cylindrical tower on a white building. The name of Cala Nans comes from the fact that it was the place where traps (‘nanses’), an old artisanal fishing device, were lit.
