Cykling

The Liebfrauenkirche, donated by the Horneburger Burgmänner, was first mentioned in 1396. The destroyed in the Thirty Years War church was rebuilt in 1632 and rebuilt from 1670 several times and extended to the south. In 1729 it was renewed on the old foundations in the Baroque style. It received 1739 a new west tower. The organ and its prospectus from 1755 were restored in 2000 and extended by a second manual.

The Liebfrauenkirche zu Horneburg stands exactly at the point where the roads from Buxtehude to Stade and from the Geest to the Altes Land used to meet.
We don't really know when the first church was built at this point. In any case, it was first mentioned in documents in 1396. The church was repeatedly demolished and replaced by a new building.
