Vandring
The nature reserve, consisting of three sub-areas, is located between Halle (Saale) and an industrial area west of Schkopau in a loop of the Saale. It protects a section of the Saale-Elster floodplain with remnants of alluvial forest, extensive areas of reed beds, backwaters, various standing water bodies and agricultural areas. It includes i.a. the abbey and the northern part of the Hohenweideschen Werder surrounded by an arm of the Saale in the west, the farmer's pastures near Planena in the south and the former Beesener Holz and Pfarrholz in the east.
