Status March 2019: The Maxau Rhine bridge is one of the most important connecting roads in the region. Within a radius of 25 kilometers, the bridge is the only connecting road between Baden and the Palatinate and thus a hub and main traffic artery. The increasing volume of traffic has taken its toll on the bridge, which is why it is currently being upgraded.
