The PWV-Ritterstein III No. 64 stands on one of the many jumps from the time of the Revolutionary Wars. The ski jumps were built by the Prussians.

In 1794, the battle took place here on the Schänzel against the French revolutionary troops, who conquered the part of the Electoral Palatinate on the left bank of the Rhine. On the slopes of the Steigerkopf, a Prussian contingent opposed them - unsuccessfully. Because the Prussians had built smaller entrenchments on the mountainside, there are several knight stones here, which are maintained and kept in order by the PWV Palatinate Forest Association. Before you get to the Ritterstein, however, there is a smaller Ritterstein No. 64 a 100 meters ahead, which points to the "main" Ritterstein No. 64.
