Vandring
Most visitors stay at the Großensee, although it is much nicer to walk around the Mönchsteich.

The name of the historic fish pond Mönchsteich refers to the creation of the water by monks of the Reinfeld monastery. They created the Mönchsteich after damming a short puncture called Stenzenbek from the neighboring Großensee. The name "Mönckedick" is first recorded on the map of the offices of Trittau, Reinbek, Tremsbüttel and Steinhorst from 1649 in the description of the country by Caspar Danckwerth and Johannes Mejer.
Acquired by Wasserwerke Hamburg-Ost GmbH, founded in 1928 to expand the groundwater development, the Mönchsteich was transferred to Hamburger Wasserwerke GmbH after the Greater Hamburg Act came into force.
