Vandring

This only tunnel of line 38 had a length of 141 m. On August 2, 1914, the Belgian army exploded the entrance to the tunnel towards Liège. When they advanced, the German occupiers immediately had it cleared up. In 1940, the Belgian army collapsed the entire tunnel. Once again the German occupiers cleared the site and allowed the trains to run through the deep open gorge as can be seen today. They built a bridge over it, which was demolished in 1952.

The former Lascheter tunnel was the only tunnel on line 38 and was 140 meters long. On August 2, 1914, the Belgian army blew up the tunnel entrance towards Liège, but it was repaired under high pressure by the advancing German troops. In 1940, the Belgian army blew up the Laschet tunnel altogether, and the German soldiers then completely excavated the railway line. A bridge crossing it, whose girders are still clearly visible today, was demolished in 1952.
