Vandring

The small field chapel dedicated to St. Michael is located at the northeastern end in the middle of lush meadows. A sign on the chapel informs about the construction of the building. It was built in 1717 on the so-called Egerriederanger on behalf of Caspar Steigenberger, who, as the administrator of the Benediktbeuern monastery, was responsible for the supervision of the taxes in kind stored in Marnbacher Zehentstadel. The chapel was added to the chapel in 1900. It houses a small stucco marble altar from the late 18th century.

This chapel near Marnbach was dedicated to the Archangel Michael. The name (coming from Hebrew) means "Who is like God?". He is often depicted - on paintings or as a statue - with a flaming sword, and occasionally a lance. Michael is - together with Raphael, Gabriel and Uriel - one of the four archangels who (according to human imagination) occupy the highest rank in the heavenly hierarchy of angelic beings. Their common feast day in the saints calendar is September 29th.
