Not far from Kreischa you can find these caves, also called soldiers' caves. Particularly recommended for the youngsters to experience a little adventure with a lamp. In the summer months it can happen that a bat finds it.

Vandring

Immediately to the east of the Lungkswitz manor, on the slope of the Lockwitzbach valley, there is a small system of caves and connecting passages known as "soldiers' caves". The nearby Stiftsgut Lungkwitz probably used the rooms as a warehouse in the past. Whether the facility was actually used as a soldiers' camp in earlier times of war is rather questionable. Geologically, the soldiers' caves are incredibly interesting, since the rocks of the Rotliegend are exposed here. These also cause the red coloring.

Vandring

There are indications that the cavities were used for storage purposes of the opposite castle (manor), including for winter ice for cooling purposes in spring and summer. In any case, soldiers found shelter here during the World War and built a small defense system in the mountain, hence “soldiers' caves”.
