In the 1980s, the remains of a Roman estate, a so-called villa rustica, were uncovered on the Treuchtlinger Nagelberg.

In Roman times, the area around Treuchtlingen belonged to the province of Rhaetia in the hinterland of the Limes. The supply of the military and the civilian population in the camp villages was ensured by a large number of estates (villae rusticae).

Mountainbiking

Roman estate, a so-called villa rustica, uncovered in the 1980s. Open all year round and accessible at all times. The entire complex was destroyed around AD 233, probably during an Alemannic invasion. The exhibits found during the archaeological excavation are accessible in the Treuchtlingen Folklore Museum.
