The symbol of the island. The golden Buddha is enthroned as a 12 meter high statue high above the temple complex. It is advisable to come in the morning, because then the sun illuminates the statue from the front. In the evening from behind, which gives a few additional effects.

Vandring

The Big Buddha is probably the most photographed landmark on the island. The 12 meter high statue is located in the far north of Samui on a small barrier island that is connected to the main island by a narrow causeway. The whole temple complex is continuously being renovated and expanded. Beautiful sunsets can be seen from the platform at the top of the statue.
