During excavations for a canal in 1964, a Roman bronze fountain mask was found here.
In 2002, the history association built a well in the wall near the site. The casting of the unique fountain mask now serves as the gargoyle.
The original fountain mask can be viewed in the Aschaffenburg Abbey Museum.
More information about the fountain mask at: geschichtsverein-niedernberg.de/21.html
The fountain mask is a stop on an approx. 2 km long village circular route that leads past further sights in the old town center of Niedernberg.
