Hitzacker station is not only a cultural station, but also a railway station. Violin music was playing in the cultural station as I waited the 90 minutes for my train. If I remember correctly, a total of eight trains a day stop in Hitzacker. Eastbound trains terminate in Dannenberg, 10 km away, and westbound trains continue to Lüneburg.

Vandring

Between 1995 and 2011 Castor transports rolled through the Hitzacker train station to Gorleben. Thousands of people demonstrated and showed that they disagree. Most of the transports came from the plutonium factory in LaHague in France. There was also resistance on the French section. An accident occurred in 2004 near a track blockade near Avricourt. Sébastién Briat died in the process. "This stone is to commemorate his death, life and resistance," reads the inscription.
