The PWV knight stone ruin Buchbacherhof refers to a former large courtyard. The houses and lands were sold to the state, the land was poor and inferior. Only a few sparse foundations can still be seen. Today there is a refugio on this spot.

Next to the ruins of the old Buchbacherhof, there is a shelter here, the “Hut of German-French Friendship”, which is open and contains a brand new seating area (as of August 2023). - My own guess: This lonely hut probably dates back to the time when the Mundat Forest still belonged to France (until 1986) and the German-French border ran further north than it does today.
