The Marienfließ Cistercian Nunnery, which was founded in 1231, was widely known for its bloody communion wafers, which were said to have miraculous healing properties and were confirmed as a real relic by the Bishop of Havelberg in 1256.

Of the Marienfließ monastery, the oldest Cistercian monastery in Prignitz, today only the monastery church remains, which is used as a parish church.
In 1829 a wooden ceiling was installed and a new roof turret was installed.
In 1900 the interior was renovated.
The church is open daily from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The former convent Marienfließ of the Cistercian nuns was the oldest nunnery in the Brandenburg region of Prignitz.

The founding family, the noble gentleman Gans zu Putlitz, pursued with the establishment in the year 1231 the strategic goal to secure the border to the near Mecklenburg. From the monastery remained preserved the single-aisled brick monastery church from the 13th century, which lies in the midst of a park-like complex. The Evangelical Church now uses the area converted into the Protestant monastery of Marienfließ after the Reformation as a nursing home for elderly people in diaconal care for the elderly.
