Vandring

Together with Toley and Weissenburg in Alsace, Klingenmünster was one of the oldest monasteries on German-speaking soil. Germany didn't exist yet, just the Merovingian Empire. Klingenmünster joined the Irish Scottish monk movement. Boniface's line prevailed. A fire in the early Middle Ages destroyed most of the documents. Therefore we know little about the early history of the monastery. Through their care yards on the right of the Rhine, they were involved in the missionary work in southern Germany.

"The Benedictine monastery Klingenmünster 'Clinga Monasterium', 626 to 1565, is the namesake and nucleus of the place. It is probably the oldest of the original monasteries in Germany." Source (quoted verbatim): klingenmuenster.org/node/2

This church is located on the European "Star Path": to the left of the entrance gate (in front of the gate) there is a scallop shell. However, the information board for this is at the back of the church.
