I was lucky enough to meet Herbert today, his aunt was the last resident until 1969 and he spent many hours in this dreamlike place.

It is located above Balgstädt.
Something about history can be found in the Balgstädt chronicles. Until shortly after World War II, there were still 4 families living here in the Toppendorf desert.

An old ruin in the middle of nature surrounded by fields 3km south-west of Balgstädt towards Burkersroda, used to be a manor with stables, barns, blacksmiths, etc., as well as two barbicanes, already described as desolate in 1539, there is said to have been a village with a church here ...
