Vandring

The Neckar used to flow into the Rhine at Trebur. After it was diverted to Mannheim, the tributaries silted up in the reed, but barrages were required for periods of rain and, above all, the flooding of the Rhine.
With the recurring floods, the large meadow areas play a major role as a flood zone together with several retention basins and the barrage and pumping stations on the Rhine.
