At this point there was once a sports field. This was dredged away for the Federal Horticultural Show and the castle lake was enlarged. The "floating meadow" with the garden of the 21st century was an attraction at the Federal Horticultural Show in 2009.

The floating meadow spreads out like a huge beach towel on the east side of the Burgsee. The garden was designed for the Federal Garden Show and implemented as a garden of the 21st century. It is now an integral part of the gardens and parks in Schwerin, a meeting point and attraction for sun-seekers. From the terrace steps you have a fantastic view of Schwerin Castle.
