Let's go to the last stage on the Remstal Cycle Path. On the way out of Schwäbisch Gmünd, a short detour to the old town with its beautiful gabled houses and the Marienbrunnen fountain in the market place is worthwhile. As part of the Garden Show 2019, the banks of the Rems was partially redesigned and renatured. This makes it even more fun to cycle along the river. On this stage, the path usually goes slightly uphill and the Rems is increasingly becoming a babbling brook. In Böbingen begins the interesting sculpture path. The wooden sculptures were made of storm wood. On the bike path you'll discover another piece of art later: the Rems waves. The blue waves each mark one kilometer of the Remstal Cycle Path.As soon as you reach Essingen, you leave the run of the Rems. Here you have reached the highest point of the bike ride. If you want, you can make a short detour to the Remsursprung, which is about four kilometers southwest of Essingen. Now it is just under ten kilometers downhill to the valley of the Kocher, in the beautiful Aalen. From here you can take the regional train back to Stuttgart in one hour.

On this stage you follow the Rems two dozen kilometers upstream. Start is in Schorndorf. You drive through the pretty city park with its small lake and a great playground. After leaving the city behind, you will reach the Rems again. After half an hour you arrive in the picturesque town Plüdershausen with its interesting half-timbered houses and the sculpture garden. Immediately after Plüdershausen are some great digger lakes left and right of the Rems. Here you can swim a few laps.Around the middle of the stage you will manage a small climb. From the top you have a great view of the Remstal and Lorch, which is known for its impressive monastery. On the beautifully landscaped bike path you continue along the Rems. Shortly before Schwäbisch Gmünd, your stage destination, parts of the Limes were reconstructed. A blackboard informs you about the famous defenses of the Romans. The stage ends in Schwäbisch Gmünd. The Rems flows through the middle of the village. On its banks lies the magnificent city garden. There, the Josefsbach flows into the Rems and next to the city garden invites the beautiful green area on Josefsbach to stroll.

The second stage is very easy to drive. Flat, short and well developed. But you will not be bored here because the stage between the two timber-framed towns of Waiblingen and Schorndorf will take you through a beautiful natural landscape.Let's start in Waiblingen. You follow the Rems out of the city. Maybe you make a little dangling to Talauesee before you continue on the romantic bike path. Large parts of the bike path were recently renovated, so it is very easy to ride.Shortly before Winterbach, after crossing the Rems several times, a particularly beautiful section awaits you. Here the river was renatured. The newly created gravel banks in the riverbed invite you to splash around in summer. In Winterbach you do not drive directly along the river, but through the center. But a short detour to the river is worthwhile, as it is crossed by the interesting Struvebrücke, a wooden bridge. After about 20 kilometers, this stage ends in Schorndorf. In addition to the extremely pretty half-timbered houses and the historic market square, the late-Gothic town church with its flamboyant details is a real eye-catcher.

Before you lies the first stage through the idyllic Remstal. At about 33 kilometers, you will explore the diverse landscape around the Rems estuary. Right, the bike path leads from the mouth to the source. The starting point of the first stage is the station Endersbach, only 20 minutes by suburban train from Stuttgart main station. But even if Endersbach is located on the Rems, the first few kilometers do not lead you directly along the river - first you make a big dangling to view the lower Rems valley from above. From the vineyards around Rommelshausen you can enjoy a fabulous view over the Remstal. The route is slightly hilly and scenic interesting.Downhill it goes through Fellbach to the Neckar, which you reach at the Fellbacher jetty. For about three kilometers you drive along the Neckar and cross it on a lock. Then you reach the Remsmündung and thus the bike path directly on the bank of the river. The Rems meanders through a beautiful natural backdrop, surrounded by high cliffs. The first stage ends in Waiblingen. Here the Rems forms several river islands. The medieval old town with its pretty half-timbered houses and the small parish garden is an ideal place to relax.
