The circuit between Deventer and Zwolle runs largely parallel to the LF3 route, which you can also find in this collection. If you have decided on Zwolle as the starting point for your tours through the Hanseatic cities, you can do the round as a day tour by moving the starting point. If, on the other hand, you combine all the routes into one long bike tour, this tour is also ideal as a return trip along the IJssel.Otherwise you start in Deventer, where you can first stock up on a lot of spice cakes for your travel provisions. You drive out of the Hanseatic city on comfortable bike paths and after 20 kilometers you will reach the protected floodplain of the IJssel near Den Nul. Here you can make a little stop.Incidentally, along the route there are various options for shortening the 88-kilometer circuit if necessary. If you only want to do a very small lap, after eleven kilometers in Olst you will find the first ferry crossing to the west bank of the IJssel, in Wijhe after 26 kilometers the second option is waiting for you. You can also find more ferry crossings near Den Nul and just before Zwolle at the height of Hattem. As you can see, you have many options to customize the tour to your needs. After 45 kilometers you will reach the city center of Zwolle, here you can take a long break to explore the former Hanseatic city in the middle of the star-shaped canal. Via Hattem, Veessem and Welsum the journey goes back to Deventer for a little more than 40 kilometers on the west bank of the IJssel. The route takes you back to your starting point at Deventer by means of a ferry connection - so you can take a leisurely swing over the IJssel at the end of the tour. If you are in a bit of a hurry, you can also cross over to the other side of the river shortly before the railway bridge.
