In winter it is a little quieter than usual in the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Venice, but it is particularly quiet on the islands that shield the Laguna di Venezia from the open sea. We start our island tour in "Little Venice", in Chioggia at the southern end of the lagoon. The canals and the fish market are particularly worth seeing.

After starting in Radolfzell, where you could definitely plan a short sightseeing, the route first leads away from the lake towards the north. On the further route you can visit some of the Lake Constance highlights such as the pile dwellings in Unteruhldingen, the Birnau basilica and Meersburg Castle.

The palm trees on the shores of Lake Maggiore suggest that winter is usually not too severe in the Ticino valleys. If you split the 57 kilometers of cycle route No. 31 (easy) into two or more daily stages, you can also treat yourself to an extensive city tour in medieval Bellinzona. It's worth it: It's not without reason that the historic buildings are UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

It starts on the Drau, or rather, on the Völkermarkt reservoir, which the Drau feeds. At the river bridge near Seidendorf, we turn right onto the Drau cycle path and roll comfortably along the idyllic bank in the direction of Völkermarkt, past the bird sanctuary.
