About Kulturland Kreis Höxter

That looks like a nice tour with summer temperatures. It even went over the steep Eggekam.

Entertaining 15 km tour around Brenkhausen. Today at the beginning I saved myself the dangling around the Brenkhausen airfield and took the route south of the airfield through the limestone grassland on the Räuschenberg. From km 1.8 you followed the markings (either the Berinkhusenweg logo or a green dot on a white background). There was a lot to see along the way: orchids, forget-me-nots, woodruff, rapeseed and one or the other animal encounter. Beautiful views, narrow paths through the forest and along the Schelpe (here I did not follow the tour for a moment, but a path towards the Preywisch hut) and dirt roads past pastures and fields. The spring green forest was a real treat for the soul - finally !! :-)All in all: a really nice, varied tour!

Today time on the way on the Nieheimer Kunstpfad to check the path markings. We have also added some road signs. The way should be found again without any problems. However, sturdy shoes are still recommended. Everything is easy to walk on, only a little muddy in some places.Of course, we treated ourselves to an extended lunch break in the swing at the "boat in the house". My personal favorite place.
In the next few days, the green carpet of the forest will probably turn into a sea of white flowers. The thick buds of wild garlic are waiting for the warm sun ☀️.
A little note: from May 17th. until May 22nd the wind cradle and the tree house are revised. On the days, the works of art will only be open to visitors to a limited extent.

Nice little tour between the districts of Paderborn and Höxter. As part of the “KinderErlebniswelt Natur”, the Teutoburg Forest / Eggegebirge Nature Park has installed a number of audio stations here that are triggered by a motion detector and bring the urban desert of Blankenrode back to life.Towards the end of the tour you can make a small loop through the "Bleikuhlen Blankenrode". The nature reserve is a Natura 2000 area and is part of the European natural heritage. At the moment the Westphalian Galmeiveilchen blooms there, which can only be found here worldwide. Due to the heavy metal content in the soil (ores used to be mined here), other species cannot survive here.

Diverse and promising circular route around Dalhausen. Well marked and well cared for. One of the highlights for me is the grass path at Kreuzweg Jakobsberg with a stone wall and lots of colorful flowers and plants, lovingly cared for and in good shape (in addition to the goats that are currently still in the gate, of course, and later in the year also on the Jakobsberg goat pastures) held. And of course the landscape lounger on the Kiepenberg, well positioned with a great view and ideal for a break and refreshment after the first strenuous climb.

I don't know how many times I've walked this path and why it grabs me so. Maybe because he feels like he changes his face every two weeks. Because there is so much to discover: on the ground and in the air. Because the goats cut a really good figure as landscapers. Or because the lighting mood is always very special. But maybe you don't always have to be able to explain everything, but can just enjoy :-).

Short circular route from the Modexer Wald hiking car park to the Hainhausen pilgrimage cross and the forest adventure school.
The consequences of drought, storms and beetle infestation cannot be overlooked up here. Partly implemented through a tree planting campaign.
Today, the numerous cowslips have also brought color into the gray day 💛.There is also a lot to discover at the forest adventure school, where an additional education center is currently being built.

The tour leads through the hops and vineyards. The names presumably go back to historical usage. Today the cultivation will no longer be found there. You also have to take care of the music yourself in the forest called Lied to be hiked through: "Hiking is the miller's delight, that hiking ..."

Through the beech forest it goes to the lookout point on the Schwiemelkopf. From here you have a wide view of the Diemel valley and you can see the juniper heather on the Ostheimer Hute on the opposite slope.
If you follow the path down to the Diemel, you can see from where you had the good view and also find out what rock the Schwiemelkopf is made of. Broken up directly on the path you can see the shell limestone, which lies in fine layers on top of each other. In the warm sun a particularly beautiful spot for lizards and butterflies.
Between Ostheim and Zwergen we come to the Wiegenfuß nature reserve with its splendor of orchids and butterflies. One of the many outstanding butterfly areas in the Diemeltal.

The destination and highlight of this tour was hidden under a heavily bushed mound for hundreds of years. The foundation walls of the octagonal Holsterburg lay completely inconspicuous and unnoticed between the cultivated fields. Excavated over many years, it has now been restored and made accessible to such an extent that the reconstructions shown give a good idea of the compact castle.Unfortunately, large parts of the route are on asphalt, but then on roads with little traffic or on the Diemel cycle path. In any case, in a beautiful landscape.
