Love hills? A popular site for Bristol grimpeurs, Dundry is a must, situated just to the south of the city with many different routes up.

Some are steeper, some a little more loose, all a challenge! Having said that, the views over the city from the top are absolutely spectacular, and make getting your

This is a really hilly loop that doesn't go far from Bristol but links up a lot of brilliant off-road segments from rocky byways to farm tracks, all connected by pretty, quiet back lanes.

The last part is straight back into Bristol city along the Bristol to Bath Path, which you may be glad of after the

The northern half of the mega Bristol Green Belt 360 gravel loop, this still poses a chunky challenge.

The Tour will take you through fields, estates, back lanes and gravel tracks around the north of Bristol and straight through the middle of the city on cycle tracks and mountain bike trails.

Brought a mountain bike and looking for a way to let off steam? This lap of the blue-rated Nova trail at nearby Ashton Court is a great option, and easy to ride to from Central Bristol too.

The Ride Bristol volunteering team have been doing a lot of work recently to maintain the trails here, and it shows

While there isn't a huge amount of elevation gain separating Cardiff and Bristol, there are a fair few gravel tracks as you track the south coast of Wales and cross the Severn Estuary that separates it from England.

A gorgeous road ride between Southampton and Bristol, you'll pass through the ancient settlements of Salisbury, Warminster and Bath on this route.

There are some great cycle paths along the way too, including one to get you out of Southampton and the Whitchurch Railway path to help you navigate into Bristol.
