I really enjoyed staying at the campground last night. Believe it or not, it had an Irish pub and an infatuation with Harry Potter (pic) and Bigfoot.
This morning, I was having issues with my bike computer. Today's ride was closer to 97 miles and 7000 ft of climbing; by far the toughest day of this

I hit the wall today. I think it was the constant headwinds. I felt like I couldn't get anywhere all day. So, I cut it short and decided to risk it by renting a cabin in Bigfoot country. The wifi password is "bigfootishere", so it must be real.
I rode up behind two bike packers. I could smell them

The morning started with a 4+ mile monster climb. It was steep and took an hour+. I was moving so slow, my bike computer paused. The views of the Redwoods made the grind pass more quickly. Giant redwoods might be one of mother nature's crowning achievements. Magnificent living creations!

The day started with several gorgeous climbs along the ocean front. Eventually, I began to cut inland and it got rather boring. Sometimes I have to figure out ways to entertain myself. I listened to a lot of news and sports today. The weather was decent, as I gained a nice tailwind in the afternoon

Tillamook, Oregon is clearly a dairy town. Last night, nothing like sitting outside eating my burrito to the fresh smell of cow poop. I had the best Mexican in years at Tacos La Providencia. How does such delicious food come out of a food truck?
Another even colder morning today. I'm getting skilled

I stayed at The Chins restaurant and hotel last night. This was a first - I checked in at the restaurant cash register. Lol. But talk about convenient when it comes to dinner!
Early in the morning, I kept seeing what looked like white glass on the shoulder of the road. It turned out to be crushed oyster

A wet and soggy start to Day 1. Having lived in this part of the country in my early 20s, I now recall why I felt like I grew webbed feet. But when the sun comes out, it makes it all worth it.
I cycled through Olympia Washington early. What a beautiful town. Then out into the countryside, and eventually

When it comes to attempting difficult physical feats, I am literally my own worst enemy. Once I get these crazy ideas in my head, I immediately begin planning, and mentally commit to both starting and finishing them.
I've cycled solo from Astoria, OR to Portland, ME and with Reggie from Key West
I give myself only 12 WTFs per bike tour to keep my attitude in check. Until I spoke to one of my daughters yesterday, I hadn't used one yet. Yesterday, she encouraged me to be more liberal with my WTFs. So I hung up the phone, and just screamed one out, just to see if I'd feel better. It worked
