OPENING IN THE MIDDLE OF SEPTEMBER 2021The nature-educational family adventure trail "Bienenreise" leads over 2 km through the forest at the Finkenrech leisure center. Children and adults learn a lot about the life of bees: What do bees and squirrels have in common? What enemies does the bee have? What if there were no more bees?At 9 stations with information and quiz boards, young and old hikers learn in a playful way the important importance of bees for our environment. Have you ever danced a waggle dance? At some stations along the way there is play equipment for children to climb, see-saw and crawl in. The large rest area is also ideal for eating lunch. The path is mostly flat and also suitable for outdoor prams.

The village of Münchwies with approx. 1300 inhabitants is a district of the district town of Neunkirchen. The place is located on the western slope of the Höcherberg, which with a height of 518 m forms the highest elevation in the eastern Saarland. It towers over the surrounding mountain ranges with a level of around 400 m. Münchwies is located on a hillside high above the Saubach and Schönbachtal valleys and therefore has hardly any flat surfaces."From Münchwiesern for Münchwieser and his visitors". This was the motto for a very special 11.8 km long circular hiking trail. Starting from the cemetery in Münchwies, it leads mostly on natural paths around the village. In addition to relaxation, the visitor learns more about nature and the town of Münchwies with its history on thirteen stone pillars. You can enjoy the near and far surroundings of Münchwies at several vantage points. The lowest point of the Münchwies district is at the confluence of the Saubach in the Schönbach at 289 m above sea level, the highest point at 495m not far from the summit of the Höcherberg. Both places are hiked over the "Spitzbubenweg 13/14 Münchwies".

The beer garden path leads from beer garden to beer garden. Entry into the tour is possible at all catering establishments, as well as at the lackey sheep farm and at the Kirkel train station. The route is completely signposted in both directions with your own logo. The tour can be shortened between Hofgut Menschenhaus and the Erlenbrunnen. Most of the paths are well developed and can be used with a handcart. Nevertheless, we recommend sturdy shoes. If you hike the path with a larger group, it is advisable to make a reservation in one of the restaurants. Please also note the current opening times of the restaurants. An overview of all catering establishments can be found at:

In the 18th century, numerous coal kilns were still smoking in the Dirminger Forest, which were used to operate the Saarland ironworks and glass smelters. Dirminger oaks were rafted across the rivers to Holland in order to build the war and merchant fleets of the Netherlands. Many contemporary witnesses of this intensive forest use can still be discovered in the Dirminger Forest today. They tell the story of the forest, the people who live in it and the conflicts that arose as a result of the shortage of wood and forest area. The themed hiking trail takes you on a journey through five centuries of forest management. The forest history from the Middle Ages to our time is brought to life again at ten stations.Wonderful panoramic views of the Schaumberger Land and the Ill valley, resting opportunities at the idyllic Klingelfloßweiher and a pasture with Soay sheep make the 9 km long themed hiking trail a relaxing and interesting experience.Guided hikes with forester Roland Wirtz can be booked on request: Tel .: 06821 - 97 29 20

An easy walk in the forest for everyone looking for rest and relaxation in the woods around the Finkenrech leisure center. The path is signposted throughout with its own logo and mostly runs on wide forest paths. The start is behind the Landhotel Finkenrech. Like its "little brother" Schönebuch (4.8 km), it is a tip, especially on hot summer days, as the green forests offer good cooling. There are several ascending points to conquer along the way. On the way you come across a pasture project with ragged sheep at the edge of the path and cross the ford of the Klingelfloß brook. After the walk, the Landhotel Finkenrech with restaurant offers a cozy end to the day with good food, coffee or cake (note the current corona situation). The Finkenrech leisure center with its large garden with themed gardens, barefoot path, animal enclosure, play and boules area is worth a visit at any time of the year. The entire site is accessible free of charge at any time!
