After we chugged through France yesterday without paying any tolls and were almost drowned in the pouring rain on the Ardèche in the evening, we set off towards the Pyrenees today. Before we do that, however, we stop at the natural monument above. You can feel that we are already in the off-season, and we were spared the crowds.

After weeks of planning, our tour of Spain has finally arrived. We've been on the road for two days and this morning we reached Ille-sur-Tet in southern France.

On the drive here, we had a fantastic view of the still snow-covered eastern Pyrenees peaks – the excitement is building.
