This is the ideal route where you can observe prairie dogs and their community life. This section of road has several prairie dog towns. We are here within Custer Park itself. Also there is a good chance that you will also observe bison and American antelope.

Spend a moment to watch the prairie dogs in the field. Pick a spot to stop. Best observed when there are no cars and you are still, otherwise they run back into the holes.
