With the Lascaux Cave with its extremely impressive cave paintings, the discoverers wrote cultural and archaeological history in 1940 that reached far beyond France. As part of the "Vézère Valley: archaeological sites and cave paintings", Lascaux is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site (since 1979). It is no longer possible to visit the original, but this museum with a faithful replica gives visitors a glimpse of a bygone world.
