Not far from here is the Annabrücke power plant, which is why the Drau is dammed here. That is why it is particularly wide and flows slowly, so that the mountains are reflected in it. With the right light, the view is truly magical!

Linsendorf is located in the municipality of Gallizien in southern Carinthia between Lake Klopeiner See and the Carnica region directly on the Drau. More specifically, between the main stream of this mighty river current and its ancient arm.

The island was created by chance and for purely pragmatic reasons when the Annabrücke hydroelectric power plant was built at the end of the 1970s. At this point, part of the old river bed has been preserved and the main stream straightened in order to use the power of the water to generate energy.
