One should stop there and also briefly, because this open border crossing is a European merit and not at all self-evident!
But we take it for granted, even though it was not so long ago that heavy border installations shared the countries here.
It should, of course, stay that way and keep the peace.
With this view, it is especially worthwhile to visit the border!

Exactly in the forest used to run the strictly secured border between the GDR and Poland. Today stands on the border strip a German-Polish gate.
There, a wooden path leads through the dunes to an approximately 400 square meter viewing platform.

Since 2008, when Poland joined the Schengen Agreement, everyone has been able to use the excellently developed cycle path here! Directly on the border strip you can reach the beach via a footbridge between the border posts and swim from one country to the other as often as you want ;-)
The cycle path connects the Baltic Sea resort promenade of Ahlbeck with the Polish city of Swinemünde.
