The monument on the Rumpelstein was inaugurated in 1936 and commemorates the German soldiers from Gernsbach who died in the First World War. Due to the construction, the construction during the Nazi dictatorship is clearly recognizable: In the middle of the building there is an oversized steel helmet on an altar-like stone block, a typical representation for Nazi buildings. On the mountain side there was previously a swastika below the imperial eagle, today there is an empty circle on the site.

As a memorial to the many dead, such memorials or war memorials are still very important today. "Now, Lord, let your servant go in peace, as you said." However, the people who are commemorated here did not divorce in peace, but became victims of war and tyranny.
Many places and monuments that you encounter on the way are a testimony - still relevant and relevant today - to the horror of war and tyranny. They all have two main functions:
-1- Commemorate and remember the victims
-2- Remind to keep the peace
