The high mountain river originates in the Columbia Icefield, breaks through the eastern mountain range of the Rocky Mountains and flows east through Alberta and Saskatchewan. About 30 kilometres east of Prince Albert, the river flows into the South Saskatchewan River at the Saskatchewan River Forks and becomes the Saskatchewan River. In Manitoba, the river finally flows into Lake Winnipeg.

The North Saskatchewan River is a river in western Canada with a total length of 1287 km.
It rises in the Rocky Mountains and flows through the province of Alberta to the center of the province of Saskatchewan, where it merges with the South Saskatchewan River to the Saskatchewan River.
